- September 13, 2017 REGULAR TOWNSHIP MEETING
- The Poland Township Board of Trustees held their Regular Meeting on September 13th, 2017 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.
- Chairman Robert Lidle calls to order the Regular Meeting on September 13th, 2017. Vincent Garayua will lead in the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Mr. Scharville calls roll call- Chairman Lidle, Vice Chairman Joanne Wollet and Trustee Eric Ungaro are all present. Fiscal Officer Paul Canter not present.
- Chairman Lidle moves to approve the August 9th Regular Meeting and August 14th Meeting minutes. Seconded by Wollet. Roll call Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro all voting - Yes.
- Chairman Lidle moves to authorize payment for all outstanding bills for the Township. Seconded by Wollet. Roll call vote- Mr. Lidle – Yes, Ms. Wollet- Yes, Mr. Ungaro – Yes.
- Fiscal Officer not present to give Financial Report for August 2017.
- Vice Chair Wollet motions to accept the Halloween hours for trick or treat in Poland Township Tuesday October 31st between the hours of 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Seconded by Chairman Lidle. Roll call vote- Ms. Wollet - Yes, Mr. Lidle – Yes and Mr. Ungaro- Yes.
- Chairman Lidle motions to approve payment for flu shots to the Mahoning County Board of Health for Poland Township employees. Seconded by Wollet. Roll call vote – Mr. Lidle – Yes, Ms. Wollet – Yes and Mr. Ungaro- Yes. Motion carried.
- Chairman Lidle motions to accept the Saginaw Lighting District Petition. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Roll call Mr. Lidle- Yes, Ms. Wollet- Yes and Mr. Ungaro- Yes. Motion carried.
- Chairman Lidle motions to set the Saginaw Lighting District Meeting for October 11th, 2017 at 5:45 pm. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Roll call vote, Mr. Lidle- Yes, Ms. Wollet- Yes and Mr. Ungaro – Yes. Motion carried.
- Mr. Lidle announces that Mr. Joseph Rossi from the Area Agency on Aging will be present on October 4th, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Poland Township Government Center to discuss the Levy that was passed and the services offered by the Area Agency on Aging for the elderly community.
- Ms. Wollet motions to place Raymond Beatty on Administrative leave with pay, pending the conclusion of the pre-disciplinary hearing effective immediately. Seconded by Mr. Lidle. Roll call vote- Ms. Wollet- Yes, Mr. Lidle – Yes and Mr. Ungaro- Yes. Motion carried.
- The Poland Township Trustees welcome Charles Rumberg and Phyllis Ricchiuti of Town 1 Range 1 to discuss some ideas to preserve the historic buildings, landscaping, parks etc. and to continue to keep the Township beautiful.
- PARK COMMITTEE:
- Mr. Filicky is present to give the report. He speaks up about a safety concern at the South gate of the park district @ Walker Trail, when you step off the trail you are in the road, there is no visibility, he is suggesting a cross walk to be put in for the safety of pedestrians.
- RECYCLING DEPT:
- No report for the recycling department.
- ZONING DEPT:
- Mr. Monus is present to give the monthly report. Total Valuation: $832, 823. Total fees: $6,361.

- Chairman Lidle comments in regard to the election signs.
- ROAD DEPT:
- Mr. Monus is present to give the monthly report. List Lane and Cobblers Run are being discussed for improvements to be done.
- POLICE DEPT:
- Chief Goodin is present to give the monthly stats for August 2017.
- Chairman Lidle and Poland Township Trustees honor Vincent Garayua with a Certificate of Valor Plaque, for his act of heroism for helping an accident victim on site.
- Chairman Lidle makes a motion to hire Meghan Shonce as a part time Police Officer for Poland Township at a rate of $10 and hour. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Roll call vote - Mr. Lidle – Yes, Ms. Wollet- Yes and Mr. Ungaro- Yes. Motion carried.
- Chairman Lidle makes a motion to donate the old police cruiser #4 to the Trumbull County Career and Technical School. Seconded by Wollet. Roll call vote - Mr. Lidle- Yes, Ms. Wollet- Yes and Mr. Ungaro – Yes. Motion carried.
- PUBLIC COMMENT
- Mrs. Newman of 2883 Autumn Wood Trail comes forward to request on behalf of the neighborhood and herself that Autumn Wood Trail is in bad condition and needs to be paved.
- Chairman Lidle moves to go into Executive session at 6:40 pm to discuss disciplinary action for a Township employee. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Roll call vote- Mr. Lidle- Yes, Ms. Wollet- Yes and Mr. Ungaro – Yes.
- Chairman Lidle moves to go back into regular session at 7:17 pm. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Roll call vote- all voting yes.
- Chairman Lidle moves to end the regular meeting at 7:19 pm. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. All voting Yes.
