AUGUST 9, 2017
REGULAR TOWNSHIP MEETING
The Poland Township Board of Trustees held their Regular Meeting on August 9th, 2017 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.
Chairman Robert Lidle calls to order the Regular Meeting on August 9th 2017. Brittney Benedetto will lead in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Canter calls roll call- Chairman Lidle, Vice Chairman Joanne Wollet and Trustee Eric Ungaro are all present.
Chairman Lidle motions to approve the July 19th Regular Meeting and Special Meeting minutes. Seconded by Wollet. Roll call Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro all voting - Yes.
PARK COMMITTEE:
Mike Heher is present to give report. Mike announces that the Boy Scouts have finished the work on the bridges. The cross country courses and sled riding hill are also complete.
RECYCLING DEPT:
Mr. Scharville not present to give report.
ZONING DEPT:
Mr. Monus is present to give the monthly report. Total Valuation: $517,216. Total fees: $4,359.
RESOLUTION #17-16: Nuisance Notice

Chairman Lidle motions to accept Resolution 17-16 Nuisance Notice. Seconded by Wollet. Voting Yes- Ungaro, Wollet and Lidle. Motion passed.
ROAD DEPT:
Mr. Monus reports that trimming of trees and patching of roads are still being done along with other projects. Quotes have been received for the Canterbury Creek project, no decision made at this time.
Mr. Lidle introduces Captain Tim Klavin with the Western Reserve Fire District to discuss the Trench Rescue Training class which will be on September 9th and 10th and September 16th and 17th. The Road Department services will be available to assist with anything they may need for the training.
POLICE DEPT:
Chief Goodin is present to give the monthly stats for July 2017. The D.A.R.E. Program training will continue for this year.
Mr. Lidle presents Brittney Benedetto with a Certificate of Valor plaque, honoring her for her heroism. Brittney is a nurse who gave her medical assistance to an individual, who was in an accident, she stayed with him until Emergency help arrived.
Mr. Lidle makes a motion to authorize all outstanding payments of the Township. Seconded by Wollet. Roll call- Ms. Wollet, Mr. Lidle and Mr. Ungaro all voting – Yes. Motion passed.
Mr. Canter is present to give the financial report for July 2017 - Revenue: $228,412.34 Expenditures: $335,180.85.
RESOLUTION 17-15: ACCEPTING THE AMOUNTS AND RATES AS DETERMINED BY THE BUDGET COMMISSION AND AUTHORIZING THE NECESSARY TAX LEVIES AND CERTIFYING THEM TO THE COUNTY AUDITOR.
Mr. Lidle moves for the passage of accepting Resolution 17-15. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Roll call Mr. Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro all voting – Yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Lidle to award the Road Paving Contract to Butch and McCree. Seconded by Wollet. Roll Call – Wollet, Ungaro and Lidle all voting – Yes.
Mr. Lidle introduces Phillip Hockensmith who is an Eagle Scout candidate. Phillip constructed a 40 foot board walk in the Poland Township Park and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation.
The Poland Township Trustees honor the 13 to 14 years old 2017 Junior League World Series Champs and are awarded with a certificate.
Ms. Wollet speaks about the Area Agency on Aging and would like them to meet with the Township to speak to the community about all the services they offer.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Mr. Albert Sciulli of 5027 Miller Rd. voices his concern about a rumor of locking the park gates at dark. Mr. Lidle assures there is no mention or thought of locking the park gates.
Mr. Lidle moves to go into Executive session at 6:51 pm. Seconded by Wollet. Roll call- Ungaro- Wollet and Lidle - all voting –Yes. Motion carried.
Chairman Lidle moves to go out of executive session and back into regular session at 8:10 pm. Seconded by Vice Chair Wollet. Voting yes- Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro. Motion carried.
No action taken.
Chairman Lidle moved to adjourn at 8:11 pm. Seconded by Vice Chair Wollet. Voting yes- Lidle, Wollet and Ungaro. Motion carried.
