- REGULAR MEETING
- February 12, 2020
The Poland Township Board of Trustees held a regular meeting February 12, 2020 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.
Mr. Ungaro calls the meeting to order.
Judge Leone leads the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Ungaro does roll call. Ungaro, Kempers and Wollet are present.
Mr. Ungaro motions to approve the minutes dated January 15, 2020 (special), January 15, 2020 (regular) and February 11, 2020 (special). Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes - Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
Mr. Ungaro motions to authorize payment for all outstanding bills for the Township. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
RECOGNITION OF GUEST:
The Board recognizes Judge Dominic Leone, Jerry Sandrock, Director of Community Services for Struthers Municipal Court and Brent Bowker from Republic Services. Judge Leone discusses a program to provide an opportunity for non-violent offenders to serve community service as a means to satisfy fines.
Mr. Jerry Stare presents a check from Coitsville Saddle-ites 4H Club to the Township of a donation to be put towards the purchase of a handicap accessible swing.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Mr. Canter is not present to give report.
ADMINISTRATION:
Mr. Ungaro announces March 11, 2020 meeting will be held on March 18, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Wollet speaks regarding of the C.D.B.G. Funding.
Mr. Ungaro motions to approve the appointment of MS Consultants as the engineer for the 2020 C.D.B.G Funding project next year which will be for the Elmland, Indian Run storm water management area. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
PARK COMMITTEE:
Mr. Filicky is present to give report.
RECYCLING:
Mr. Ungaro announces a reminder that there will be people cleaning up the area on Monday’s by the recycling center.
ZONING DEPARTMENT:
Mr. Bob Monus is present to give monthly report from December.
- 2 new structures, valuation - $364,310; fees - $2,556.
- 5 additional/ improvements, valuation - $143,050; fees - $1,008
- 0 misc. permit; 13 violations for the month ; total valuation for the month- $507,360; total fees collected - $3,564
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief Goodin is present to give monthly report.
Mr. Ungaro motions to approve donation to the annual contribution to Support Crisis Response Team in the amount of $2,000. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes - Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Patricia McQuillan of 3005 Southwind Trail asks the Board to clarify the motion to approve the certification of the roads. She asks if it means that all the work is complete or are there still some problems? The Board explains that the certification has nothing to do with the paving project. The purpose of the certification is to certify to the county engineer how many miles of roads there are in the Township.
Mr. Ungaro motions to adjourn at 6:29 p.m. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
